Nothing like a bottle chock full of guaifenesin and pleasant tasting cherry syrup to crack my eyes outward for three days (72 hours, for those who like to count) and remind me that there really are some things in life from which one must cower in respect.
It's difficult to tell what's weirder: the writhing feeling on my skin like a thousand lilliputian drummers were trying to rolf me, or the way god likes to grab me by my seventh chakra and try to swing me around the room if I dare allow myself to yawn.
DM to the deep end, hang-gliding from the third plateau.

Re: Mmmmmmm
Thu, September 30, 2004 - 12:28 AMI thought you weren't supposed to drink the stuff with the Guaifenesin in it. I though it was Maximum Strength Cough & Cold (DXM & Ephedrine) or death (or at least a big barf). Enlighten me, apparently. -

Mon, October 4, 2004 - 11:05 PMYou are supposed to drink the stuff with guaifenesin in it. Mig was giving a heart felt example of don't do it in a british comedy sort of way. -

Re: Mmmmmmm
Sat, October 9, 2004 - 11:46 PMI was taught this methodology (not that I've ever done it... yeah, that's the ticket!)
Maximum strength cough & cold (WITHOUT guaifenesin), 1/2 bottle every 1/2 hour (so you don't puke)...
1 bottle = 1st plateau, 1 1/2 = 2nd plateau, 2 bottles = 3rd plateau
I'm pretty sure that guaifenesin is an expectorant that loosens phlegm and clears snot, and also makes it so that if you drink too much of it, you'll definitely hork it up. That's why it's in every kind of Triaminic and kids' medicines, as a backup plan to keep kids from gettin' all fukt up.
I know when I was a kid and I had colds or the flu, my parents trusted me to self-medicate (silly parents!) and I'd take way more than the recommended dose. I didn't know that cough syrup could make you trip... I just figured that if I took more, I'd get better sooner. I thought it was being sick that caused me to leave my body and stare at myself sleeping on the bed below. Ha ha. Silly kid!
